Monday, May 18, 2009 Congratulations to Xstream IBK of California, 2009 Canada Cup Elite Division champions. Xstream IBK defeated TJ Sokol Jaromer 6-5 in what could be the most exciting Canada Cup final yet. The two teams traded goals until Jaromer pulled away to take a 5-3 lead in the third period. Xstream would not quit and scored two goals in two minutes to tie the game 5-5. The stage was set for a hero to emerge and Swedish Super League star Alexander Nede responded, scoring an unassisted goal at the 17:54 mark to clinch the championship. The prestigious MVP award went to Nede’s team mate and fellow SSL star Daniel Dalbjer, who scored 17 points in the tournament. In the bronze medal match Finnish first division squad M-Team beat FC Lemmings, also from Finland, by a score of 5-0. ...
